As though the 2nd year of Sekundarschule isn’t stressful enough already with the constant reminders and emphasis on finding an apprenticeship, finding a job is also the focus of this Klett English unit. It covers filling out an application, and the skills required for various professions from chef to rocket scientist. Here is some literature to supplement this unit:

The Hitchhiker, short story by Roald Dahl
This fun short story is about an odd-looking hitchhiker who turns out to have a very useful job. There’s a great twist at the end. Available in the books, “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More” as well as in “Roald Dahl’s Ten Short Stories”.

Odd Jobs, by Nancy Rica Schiff
